Short Profile of the Project Development Office


1. The society of Sisters of Maria Auxilium has been doing socio-economic, education and health service especially to slum and rural based people in entire Tamil Nadu and few other states in India. Considering the impacts of the service to most disadvantaged people, the corporate sectors in Tamil Nadu and other states of India came forward to extend their support to strengthen and expand our service to many more people.


The following are the services we are doing through our Congregation:

  • Imparting awareness training programs and organizing them into women, youth, elders and children’s groups for personality development and group activities
  • Guiding the poor and the deprived families to reduce their wasteful expenses and save through micro credit programs which promote brotherhood values
  • Organizing leadership and personality development camps
  • Providing educational assistance to the poor children
  • Conducting evening coaching classes for the school going children
  • Running schools for the slum and rural children
  • Running vocational training centres
  • Running health centers especially for slum and rural people
  • Initiating self-help programs towards income generation
  • Providing material assistance to the disabled people

In order to reach out more areas as well as expand the services to many more people in India, our Congregation has started Project Development Office at No.226, Madhavaram Milk Colony Road, Thapalpetti, Chennai 600 060 on 14th of November 2024 with the charism of our founder late Rev. Fr. M.C. Antony SDB.


The following are the services we are doing through our Congregation:

  • Strengthening on going activities
  • Extending the services to many more areas
  • Initiate motivational activities on socio-economic, education and health
  • Extending educational services to the most disadvantaged children
  • Provide required health services to the people especially in slums
  • Initiate tribal development programs

BLESSED THE SMA WOMEN'S SERVICE HOME

Considering the welfare and safety of the working women from various places of South India, the Congregation has started “SMA Women's Service Home” in SMA Generalate at Madhavaram. The Service Home was opened by Sr. Josephine Selvi SMA, the Superior General of the Congregation and blessed by Rev. Fr. A.M. Jacob, the Secretary “Madras Social Service Society”, Archdiocese of Madras – Mylapore.

About Founder

Early beginnings of Fr. M.C. Anthony

Fr. M.C. Anthony was born on 15th of November, 1926, atKerala one of the most beautiful states of Indiain a small island called Alva. He was the sixth son of Mr. Cherian and Mrs. Theresa. He was baptizedon the seventh day after his birth in St. Dominic's Church.Domi, Mathew, Annamma, Thandamma and Elizabeth were the elder siblings of M.C. Anthony.

As it happened in the life of St. John Bosco, this loving family was struck by a great tragedy. M.C. Anthony too lost his father when he was just two years old.

About Our

Aim and Objectives of the Society

  • To carry out pastoral and social activities among most disadvantaged rural and urban poor
  • To provide shelter for the orphans and the abandoned girl children

Our Target Group

Orphans & Semi Orphans - who have no one to take care, feed, educate and love.

Working children

CHILD LABOURERS who are forced to work in small-scale industries, restaurants,

Pavement children

who live with their parents without roof over their heads due to utter poverty and misery.

Children in distress

who are sexually, physically and psychologically abused. They may be from any background

Children in disaster

who are affected by natural calamities, epidemics etc. Now we have been giving special

Youth

who were themselves child labourers, but continue to work in unskilled and untrained jobs.

Women

who are the mothers of Child labourers and those women who live under the poverty

Elderly

who have no homes and abandoned by the sons, daughters and relatives. Offer them food
