On 8 December 2025, St. Thomas Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Nerkunappattu, celebrated a historic milestone with the inauguration and blessing of its newly constructed school building, equipped with modern infrastructure to support quality education. The realization of this beautiful project was the cherished dream and vision of our Superior General, Rev. Sr. Josephine Selvi SMA. Through her dedicated leadership, foresight, and commitment to the mission of education, this dream became a reality, providing a conducive environment for the holistic growth and development of students. The new building stands as a symbol of hope, progress, and the congregation’s unwavering dedication to shaping the future of young minds.

The inauguration ceremony was graciously led by Most Rev. Dr. A. M. Chinnappa, SDB, Bishop Emeritus of Madras–Mylapore, who blessed the new building. The Holy Eucharist was presided over by Rev. Fr. John Alex, together with concelebrants Rev. Fr. M. V. Jacob and priests from the SDB along with Rev. Fr. Kolas, SDB the Parish Priest of Holy Family Church, Pavunjur & OFM Congregation.

Mr. Santhanam, Chairman of Repco Bank, was invited as the chief guest for the occasion and was represented by Mr. Joseph.

The celebration witnessed the active participation of sisters from various local communities, as well as the sisters of the Holy Family and the Servite Congregation. The programme featured a grand welcome procession, a cultural dance by the school children, the blessing of the foundation stone, ribbon-cutting ceremony, lighting of the traditional Kuthuvilakku, felicitation of dignitaries, the solemn Holy Mass, and a fellowship meal.

The joyous occasion was filled with gratitude to God for His abundant blessings and for the generous support of benefactors and well-wishers. The inauguration of the new school building marks a significant milestone in the history of the institution and strengthens its commitment to providing quality education and holistic formation to future generations.
