History	:	SirumalarIllam, a social service unit is a Registered Not-for Profit Institution, which was started in the year 1998 by the Sisters of Maria Auxiliuam, aims to reach out most under privileged sections of Slums of North Chennai. It has been concentrating its outreach programs mainly on women and children. The main aim of this society is to empower women and children of the North Slums of Chennai City. There are 4 big slums namely Sembiam, Madumanagar, Erukancherry and Thiruvikanagar are directly benefiting through this social service unit.
